I was researching a brother of my great-grandfather. On the 1920 US Census he lists a step-son, Max Zembrowsky, who is stated as being born in England. He was 9 years old as of the census which was enumerated in January of 1920. I went to FreeBMD and found a birth record in the 2nd quarter of 1910 which was transcribed as Marka Zembrowsky, born Mile End. I read it as Marks. Could someone take a look and see if they agree with me? Is there any way to find out his parent's names, especially his mother's maiden name, without writing to the GRO for a birth certificate copy? Thanks Steve Morgan Wilmington North Carolina USA
You can order from GRO online. http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/#0 They ship in 4 days and it takes about another 3-4 in the mail. There is a Davis Zembroski shown in the marriage records for 1908-Mile End Old Town but it does not provide a link to spouse. I'd order both to see what you find. I might add that the mother's (Sophie's) maiden name is important to this search as she was the second wife of my great-greatuncle. I hope I got that relationship right. -- Steve Morgan Wilmington North Carolina
I'm searching for Nathan Isaacs, father of Charles Isaacs born abt 1814 in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales. I have Nathan identified as coming from Poland, but no other information. Anything familiar here? Thanks! -- Cheers, Dallas Vancouver, BC, Canada
National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1861-1941, is now available on a well-known website that begins with A. Jill Staines, Middlesex
Hi Jill, In reply to your post to Ann, re; your g-gaunt Katie SYMONDS (aka SYMONDS JACOBS) In my tree I have the wife of my grandfather Louis (Yehuda Aryé Lieb) FRIEDMAN/FREEDMAN/FREEMAN Louis' 1st wife was Rachel nee SIMON, according to MC & MA. Her father was Isaac SIMON a tailor from RUSSIA. However, Rachel has also been shown on her six children's BC's as Rachel nee JACOB, Rachel nee SIMON, Rachel nee COHEN .... & Rachel nee ROSENBERG! The two witnesses to their marriage in 1890 in LEEDS, were Morris ROSENBERG, from CHOTEL, KOVNO, who they also lived with at; 37, Back Byron St, Leeds on the 1891 census & Morris COHEN who was from GERMANY & who lived at; 52, Copenhagen St, Leeds. My grandfather's 2nd wife (my grandmother) was Rebecca nee COHEN & formerly COHEN. Because of the various names Rachel nee SIMON has used, I suspect there is a connection to the two wedding witnesses, to either or both, of my grandfather's 1st & 2nd wives. But, I've not found any other family for my grandfather or his wives, other than the family that he created. If you would like more info please contact me. Monica McMullin Liverpool UK
I have descendants of my gg-aunt Brucha KINSLER to 2010. I would very much like to connect w/them & write them a letter of introduction. I've written to 3 Facebook profiles but no one responds. I searched the telephone directories but they are either not listed or I have insufficient or incorrect town info. So on the off-chance that a reader of this post may recognize a name, I am looking for: Adrienne Glassman nee Stricker and her husband Brian Glassman. (their youngest child was born '86 in Hendon) [I found an Adrienne in Borehamwood and in Kings Langley but I'm not able to view details.] Hilary Feldman nee Stricker. (she is divorced from Richard Feldman & her youngest was born in '79 in Camden). [I found a Hillary in Ilford, Colchester, Ipswich, and in Salford but I'm not able to view details.] So once again, if anyone knows these people I would welcome being put in touch with them. Thanks a million. -- Kindest Regards, Ann Florida USA
On a pay site, I saw a death record for Brucha KINCLER (nee Freedman/Frydman), died 1949 in London. If this record is the one I've been searching for: She may have lived on Dunsmure Road, London at the time of her death. The surname was originally KINCLER in Poland but became Kinsler w/an s in England. Her husband’s name was Nathan or Solomon & he died 1938 or before. I would like to locate their graves & burial record. At least one of their daughters was married at the New Synagogue. I have searched the United Synagogue site & all of their affiliated cemeteries (such as Willesden Cemetery where her sister Katie is buried), Cemeteryscribes and Findagrave.com. I welcome suggestions to enable me to find Brucha's bones. and BTW - to all of you who may have seen my post on finding the grave of Katie MORRIS nee Freedman - I finally located her at Willesden. She is buried by the fictitious given name of Katherine! -- Kindest Regards, Ann Florida USA
Hi Ann Not sure if it's the same family but my g-g-aunt Katie SYMONDS (aka SYMONDS JACOBS) married David MORRIS (cigar maker) in London in 1886. Does this sound familiar? Re: Willesden United Cemetery I have taken a large number of photos of graves at Willesden. If listers interested would like to email me privately, I will look on my database to see if I have the relevant photos. Gina Marks London [email protected]
Many kind Listers replied to my request for help with tracing Ellis KOLSKI COLE & family. I am VERY grateful to Miriam, Barbara, Naomi, Richard, who tried to find this missing person. But the amazing (unknown to me & unrelated) Philip Campbell in Israel slaved through the night & with unrelenting persistance & as he put it 'yiddishe kop' found the living rellies & put me in touch. We haven't spoken yet, because I've been travelling from LA to NYC today but tomorrow I will have that delicious call to make, thus linking me with a lost branch of the MICHAELS family of 14 children from the 1876 marriage of Max MICHAELS & Fanny POSNER. He is going to explain his research methods, which involved Genes Reunited & Facebook, as well as a paying sub to a well-known huge website & the UK www.192.com which is free up to a point. I think he should really write a paper for all of us on this subject, as it altered me to websites (free) which I seldom use. I want to make a donation in his honour & in this website's honour & would welcome Sherry & Jackie's suggestion as to where it should go. Many thanks again to you all. Dear Ann, FINDAGRAVE.com has 214 interments listed according to when I searched by cemetery - plus 30 {famous interments). Might be worth a virtual gander. Pls disregard my previous post on this subject. This is a correction of my earlier post. Might anyone be researching the SYMONS family & recognize any of these names? In researching the MORRIS family I learned of a connection to the SYMONS family. Katie MORRIS nee Freedman was Great Aunt of Betty Ormorod nee Gruner. Please do not ask me for more info on SYMONS because all that I know is in this post. Isabella (Belma) SYMONS was married to David GRUNER and they had 2 children, Tony (b. 1921) + Betty (b. 1924) I cannot find a record of David & Isabella's marriage, which might of course verify her maiden name. David died in 1958; she in 1981. Isabella (Belma) SYMONS' mother was Sister Symons nee Freedman. If Sister (strange name -- may be wrong) is a Freedman then she is likely family & originally from Stopnice, Poland, as was Katie Morris. -- Kindest Regards, Ann Florida USA
Hi Gerry - thanks for replying. I should have referenced my post better. I am looking for 2 specific gravestones, not gravestones in general. I checked out your suggestion and unfortunately, pics are not there. but thanks so much. Might anyone be researching the SYMONS family & recognize any of these names? In researching the MORRIS family I learned of a connection to the SYMONS family. Katie MORRIS nee Freedman was great aunt of Betty Ormorod nee Gruner. Please do not ask me for more info on SYMONS because all that I know of them is in this post. Isabelle (Belma) SYMONS married Tony GRUNER (Betty's brother). They have at least one son Alan who doesn't know anything about his ancestry. Isabelle (Belma) SYMONS' mother was Sister Symons nee Freedman.
