    3. In a word-No. According to the National Archives site, GB only kept passenger lists for those people coming from outside Europe. Also according to the Archives no alien registration cards exist for the period you are talking about. However her local police station may have had an aliens register. Also if her husband was not yet naturalized when they married, look in the National Archives for a naturalization application since it would have to state when the wife entered the country. She might very well have come alone. It was not that unusual. Remember that a large part of those coming from Russia/Poland came through Germany and took the boat from either Hamburg or Bremen. Sometimes you can find them on emigration lists out of those ports. 3. Thank you foryour help. Dateline is as follows: Aaron Hart. son of BAruch Barnett Hart .( The Barnett appears in Aaron's will.) 1841 Census Goulston Street, E. London . Living with him is Catherine 25, Rachel 20, Sarah 20, Elizabeth 15, Michael 15, Julia 12 Moss 10. So , unless Moss had another mother, Esther must have died by 1831.and they might have married about 1815. However the girls seemed to get younger in every census and the dates are not so accurate. There were two older sons , Abraham and Phillip who went to live in Jamaica and died there. On the other hand there was s a daughter Amelia (Mendela daughter of Aharon) who married Ephraim Levy Green at the Great Synagogue, 2 Feb. 1836. The strange thing is that a Lipmann Levy aged 35, a glass cutter was living at the same address in 1841 census. In the 1851 census he was still there and also an Elizabeth Levy. They are down as sister in law and brother in law. I have often wondered if somehow Esther was a nee Levy. In 1861 census they are both living further up the road with Amelia and Ephraim and down as Aunt and Uncle. I have been stuck on this for some years and would be grateful for any help. Best wishes, Louise. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jewish Admin" <[email protected]> To: "alfred goldschmidt" <[email protected]>; <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 18, 2010 6:05 PM Subject: Re: [BRITISH-JEWRY] Marriage Records : HART London Area > Louise, > What's the time-frame on these?

    3. I have descendants of my gg-aunt Brucha KINSLER to 2010. One of them that I wrote to, Adrienne Glassman, appears to have moved to Bulgaria! I've written to Facebook profiles of MARZELL & HERSHMAN descendants but no one responds. Perhaps a postal letter will do the trick. And on the off-chance that a reader of this post may recognize a name, I am looking for: Sara MARZELL of Watford, Hertfordshire; she has a daughter Natasha & perhaps a son Simon Beverly HERSHMAN of London (husband Richard) If anyone knows them I would welcome being put in touch. Thanks a million. -- Kindest Regards, Ann Florida USA

    3. Louise, What's the time-frame on these? Have you any trace of Esther apart from the tombstones (census, birth of other children etc)? If she is buried in UK she would have needed a death certificate. Do you think she could have died and been buried abroad? Sherry (in grey and rainy Viersat, France) My great great grandfather Aaron Hart married Esther? I cant find a record of her death. He registered seveal of his children in one go without mentioning the mother.I know her name was Esther as she is mentioned on the tombstones of her daughters Julia and Catherine. How do I find out who she was?

    3. Hello Miriam Thanks for the info. I had a look at FreeBMD. The June one was aged 43,reg in Hampstead and the November one was aged 82, reg Bethnal Green. Appreciate you looking tomorrow. No, I don't have access to the JC online so if you don't mind, would be interesting to see what the notices say. I have found later HAND's in Willesden, both called John. One passed away in 1939 and the other in 1940. I suspect they're all related. <Frances (1) on 28 June 1901 and Frances (2) on 29 November 1901 Miriam Pollak, London> Naomi Ogin Brisbane

    3. Hi Jessica Could be worth e mailing this society http://www.brandeis.edu/centers/wsrc/ernestinerose/highgate.html They have a lot of information about Ernestine and mention her husband a fair bit - they are both buried in Highgate Cemetery. The name spelling they are using is Ernestine L. Susmond Potowski Rose. According to another site, she married William in 1835 and her father's name was Isaac.http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1G2-2591308061.html Would be great to find a record of the marriage and that should provide more clues. Another site says they married in 1832 and another in 1836. William was born around 1813. You may be able to find baptism records for him. There's also some info in http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/ <both died in England - he in London, and she in Brighton Jessica Leschnikoff> Naomi Ogin Brisbane

    3. Hi Heather, There are pre-civil registration, births/circumcisions, marriages and deaths/burials on www.synagoguescribes.com But to be sure you would need to know the wife's name. Can you get that from a census? or from a child's birth (civil regstration showing mother's name)? 3. I have just been able to decipher the terrible hand writing on a record we have for Joseph HART. The record is dated 30th July 1827 and it gives his age as 24 years, but the bit that up to now was unreadable, or I hadn't tried hard enough, is that is says that he was Married, but does not give the name of his wife. This is about a Joseph HART I have asked about on here before he was a Hatter and worked for his father in Gaulston St Whitechapel. But what I am wondering is where would I find a marriage record for a Joseph HART prior to July 1827, with no idea of the name of his wife. Thank you Heather

    3. Dear all, I’ve just had some information about a relation of mine – albeit distant. Ernestine ROSE, was born Ernestine Louise POLOWSKY in Piotrków Trybunalski, Russia-Poland. She married an ENGLISH silversmith / jeweller, William Ella ROSE, and lived with him in the UK during the latter half of the 19th Century. There is census information about both of them and they both died in England - he in London, and she in Brighton. Ernestine was a Jewish-Polish atheist, free-thinker and one of the original feminists who lead the way for women’s rights in the USA. It turns out that she was the great aunt of my great great aunt, Anna PULVERMACHER. I would very much like to know if anyone knows anything about her family tree, or that of her husband – or if you are related to her. You can do a search for her details – there are some things about her online that might give an indication of her family origins. I am keen to find out about her because her family line might lead backwards or forwards towards mine, shedding light on the origins of my particular branch of Pulvermachers, who settled in the UK four generations ago in the 1800s (all Jewish, Prussian etc). Any info gladly received or shared. Cheers, Jessica Leschnikoff Researching: Pulvermacher, Barnett, Polowsky, Leschnikoff, Ehrlich, Rose
