In the hope that somebody can help or perhaps point us in the right direction - We are trying to find a Gordon Essex who is the father of David Brown. David was born on 26 July 1946 at 22 Barton Road, Davyhulme, Urmston, Manchester to Elsie Jones and believes that his father was in the Manchester area whilst serving with the Royal Air Force during World War II. Elsie was born on 1 December 1919 at 37 Lord Nelson Street, Salford, Manchester and worked at some time as a Dental Receptionist. We are lead to believe that there was an argument over custody and this was subsequently granted to Elsie through Urmston Court - David was later adopted by Elsie and her then husband Lionel Alec Brown (known as Mick) on 26 May 1950 through Uxbridge Juvenile Court, Elsie and Lionel married on 22 September 1947 in the Register Office in Barton. We have very little further information regarding the Gordon Essex we are trying to find, other than before the war we believe that we worked for the Civil Service; we can only assume that following he war he returned to this role in the London area. We do have what appears to be a squadron photograph taken during the war but unfortunately we are unable to identify Gordon Essex. Any ideas, anybody? Thanks Andrew
