    3. Hello everyone I am searching for any information on the surnames Morpeth or Winskill, from Northumberland from about 1730 to about 1850. My g-g-g grandfather was Thomas Morpeth/Winskill, who was born at Hexham 12th January 1800, son of John Winskill. Thomas married Mary Forster on 20 July 1822 under the name Winskill. He was killed in a mining accident at Derwent Lead Mines (Hunstanworth) on 17th March 1864, and is buried at St Marys Church Yard, Blanchland under the name Morpeth. I am trying to find out which was his ancestral surname, and why the change came about. I have found a marriage between John Winskill and Elizabeth Morpeth at Allendale on 2 December 1799, this is the only link I have found between the Winskill and Morpeth surname. Any information on these surnames would be greatly received. Regards Mark (Consett Co. Durham)
