Hi everyone, New to this list, though have been active on several other lists and am beginning to feel very lonely. Have received lot of help and suggestions but no one even remotely related to my family (though fingers crossed with a letter sent to New Zealand). I am looking for William FINCHER born abt. 1801 in England who married Barbara GARDEN, 8th April, 1826 in Nigg, Kincardine, Scotland. He was a stone dresser, but I don't know why he went to Scotland and I don't know where he came from in England. The couple had the following children in Aberdeen: 1. Christina Fraser FINCHER (1827) 2. Helen Hill FINCHER (1829) 3. William FINCHER (1831) 4. James Allan FINCHER (1834) 5. Barbara FINCHER (1836) 6. John Cumming FINCHER (1838) 7. Robert Forbes FINCHER (c. 1841) 8. Jane Cumming FINCHER (1843) 9. Grace Poole FINCHER (1847) The whole family immigrated to Melbourne, Australia in 1849. Some went to New Zealand for a while (some stayed) and many returned to Australia. I am also interested in an Isabella FINCHER who married Alexander WATT in 1851 in Old Machar, Aberdeen. They had 1 son John WATT in 1854 and then disappear off the face of the earth. I have found Isabella on the 1851 census for Old Machar where she states she was born in Old Meldrum, Aberdeen. Went through the Parish Records for Old Meldrum and, of course, there is no Baptism for Isabella. Would love to make contact with anyone who either has information on this family or is related to them. I can't be the only one! or can I? Thanks for reading.
