    1. [BRITNAMES] POST - UNUSUAL NAME MALLENBY
    2. MAY I POST THIS?? EVER HEAR OF THIS NAME IN YOUR AREA?? INTERESTS: RELATIVELY OBSCURE NAME "MALLENBY" HI, I am doing my family tree and I am looking for anyone with the exact spelling of the name MALLENBY anywhere in the U.K. It is not that common. In fact there are apparently only 9 MALLENBY names in the current voters registration in the U.K. and they are all in the Newcastle area. I am aware of these MALLENBY folks. What I am looking for are other current or previous listings of anyone with the name MALLENBY in the U.K. Possibly, in any previous Census Searches, Birth-Death-Marriage Searches, Previous Voter Registration Searches, etc. coming up with the name MALLENBY and whatever other details that may come to mind. Any photo copies of any such listings would also be appreciated. If you see any connection to the MELLANBY name that would also be appreciated. What I surmise is that the MALLENBY name stems from the MELLANBY name due to an error of inscription at time of birth or the like. A prime example would be: Eliza Prussiana MALLENBY Christened: 17/06/1757, Whitchurch, Shropshire Note that the father’s name was spelled Thomas MALLENBY and not Thomas MELLANBY. Mother Elizabeth. [IGI: Batch C037562; Dates: 1724-1732/ 1732-1797; Source: 0510683 & 0510684; Type: Film; Print Out Call #: 6908747]. I am also looking for any children born to Eliza Prussiana MALLENBY? I am also looking for any children born to Margt. MALLENBY & Geo. DENT Married: 18 Februray, 1797, Saint Agatha, Gilling By Richmond, Yorkshire [IGI: Batch M040211; Dates: 1730-1834; Source: 0207530; Type: Film; Print Out Call #: 6909947]. What I also surmise that in latter years, this error in spelling simply perpetuated giving rise to the MALLENBY name. What I’m trying to do is trace the roots of this MALLENBY name. For example, I can trace my name Thomas Todd MALLENBY back a few generations, but then the "trail" goes cold?? I’ve ordered certificates for the family below and this may give me some clues to follow. 1. Grandfather Thomas Todd MALLENBY b. 1913, 23 Dec. [Newcastle Upon Tyne]; 2. g grandfather Thomas Todd MALLENBY b. ?? 3. g-g grandfather Thomas Todd MALLENBY b. 1876[Newcastle Upon Tyne][d. 1917, 12 July][www 1 buried Nieuwpoort, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium] 4. g-g-g grandfather James MALLENBY [b. 1845??][No listing found yet for birth: James MALLENBY][Married: 1868, Newcastle on Tyne; Church: St. John the Baptist Church; Register Code: EJD 29, and the entry is 340. Bride: Ann Elizabeth TODD]. Prior to this does the name revert "back" to MELLANBY or perhaps to MELLONBY and this is why no birth record can be currently found for James MALLENBY [b 1845??]. I am also to understand that the names may stem from Thomaie MELLANBIE an emigrant to the U.K. from Sweden?? THANK YOU, THOMAS Thomas Todd Mallenby c/o Dr. Terry W. Mallenby, Ph.d.
