I am searching for Blankenship and Johnson families who immigrated to the US very early and homesteaded in Virginia. I believe the Blankenships came through North Carolina; I cannot determine the route of the Johnsons. Prominent first names were common ones, especially William Blankenship and Thomas Johnson. Isaac was the first Johnson and William the first Blankenship, I believe. Loretta J. Johnson

I'm trying to find the family of ROBERT & ELIZA FELGATE and/or the family of CHARLES TRUSON or sons ROBERT or WILLIAM TRUSON. All of these people were living in SUNDERLAND, in the late 1890's or early 1900's. All are relatives of my grandmother, ELIZABETH BAILEY. ROBERT FELGATE & his wife adopted ELIZABETH, in 1890, when she was one year old. ROBERT & WILLIAM TRUSON are grandma's half-brothers. Her mother, ANNIE BAILEY, married CHARLES TRUSON, then had the 2 boys. My hope is that someone from these families will have a photo of my grandmother, before she was sent to CANADA by BARNARDO HOMES, in 1899. Dear Ms. Bennett, I do not have any information on the person you are researching, but I am very interested in the LOWNDES surname, as we have it in a branch of my family in the USA. We are researching Lowndes who went from UK (ENGLAND?) to the CARIBBEAN, then to SOUTH CAROLINA, USA. I understand there may have been 1 or 2 branches of Lowndes in England - one in the North, and one around LIVERPOOL. I hear the Liverpool branch may have been shipowners or shipbuilders. Hello, I'm new to this list, and I am looking for the proverbial needle in the haystack. - . My gt-gt grandmother, Ellen DAVIS, was born somewhere in England about 30 September 1837 (calculated from her age at death). - She came to the U.S. with her parents at age 14 (about 1851). - Her father was John DAVIS (likely born in the early 1800s); her mother's name is unknown. - John DAVIS was allegedly an iron worker in Pennsylvania. - Ellen married Holmes STODDARD or STODDART in about 1854 in the Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania area. - Unfortunately Ellen was out of her parents' household before the 1860 census so I have no way of tying her to the hoard of John DAVIS families in the area. - The 3rd quarter 1837 English birth index lists Ellen Davis' born at Madely, Droxford, and Lewisham. However, since she was born at the very last of that quarter, it is likely that her birth was registered in the next quarter. - The 4th quarter index lists Ellen Davis' born in Stourbridge and Portsea. - The 1st quarter of 1838 shows Ellens at Frome, St. George Southwark, and Dorking. - Does ANYONE have an Ellen born approximately 30 September 1837 with a father named John? Thank you very much, Kay Haworth
