Is there anyone on this list who could advise me on how to determine if the married couple shown below came to the American colonies sometime between the wedding date and 1780? On this side of the pond I’ve got a Jane HARKER, as a widow of a James HARKER (both “natives of England”) in 1780. I am descended from Jane and her second husband, John HARLAND. >From the Parish Register of Whorlton (Church of England): James HARKER and Jane MASON married on 21 May 1776. Howard
I’m looking for the ancestry and descendancy of the groom in this married couple. Can anyone provide any ideas on what sources (from the USA) could be used to find out? Thomas HARLAND married Hanah DEIGHTON married June 8, 1745 in Brancepeth, Durham, England. Howard

Hi everyone I am new to this list and am hoping there is someone out there who can help me. I am researching my husbands family. I have his ggrandparents details as GEORGE PYE b27/11/1860 in Tunstall Wolstanton Staffordshire d23/7/1936 & ELIZABETH HOLMES b11/7/1859 in Scarborough d 16/8/1934. As he was born in 1860 I thought if I had a look at the 1861 census for Booth St Tunstall, the family would surely be on it. WRONG. I looked at the film for the whole area and couldn't find them. Now I have no idea where to go from here. I really have to find out if he had any other siblings as well as his parents details, before I can move on from here. I have a birth cert for GEORGE which gives his parents as GEORGE PYE & ELIZA JOHNSON. As we live in NZ it is difficult to know what to do from this point Heres hoping there is someone out there who can help Thanks all Jenny

Hi, I,m new to this list and really need some help in searching 1871 or 1891 census for Sussex to look for Mr W.T. Kent or his son Alfred Thomas KENT. Have no info on W [presumed to be William] KENT other than he was resident at North Street, Eastbourne on 11.6.1932 when Alfred died. Alfred was born in 1881 and was the eldest son, he was married to Helena WEEKES WHO DIED ON 12.6.1942 and had a sister Lucy who ran away from home when her mother died young. Alfred was a police constable in Hove for 25 years and was living at St Leonards Gardens Hove when he died. He had two brothers Charles and an A.E. Kent and two sisters Bessie and Ethel [may have been more] Alfred had five children Alfred William Leslie KENT [my grandad], Renee, Winifred, Marjorie and Doris. Alfred Leslie was born at Aldrington Hove in 1906. Please can anyone give me any clues as the 1881 census seems to be of little help in tracing Alfred Thomas Kent as he wasn't born although W.T.Kent may have been residing somewhere in Sussex then. Many thanks for any info anyone might have. Michele
