    3. Hello, I am the USGen Project Coordinator for Storey County, Nevada. I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Comstock Cemetery Foundation in Nevada, and we are currently restoring our historic graveyards and desperately need an act of genealogical kindness. Buried at the Gold Hill Cemetery are the Bickle brothers. The two remaining markers say they are natives of England. The recorded death information contains conflicting information. Some sources say they were from Yorkshire, some say Cornwall. Unfortunately our information on them is sketchy at best, and cannot be confirmed. On April 7, 1869 there was a three-mine disaster in Gold Hill, Nevada. An explosion below the air shaft level shared by all three mines took the lives of 45 men, 7 of them were never recovered. Let me share a brief verse written about the Bickle brothers. "after a moments pause the signal was given to hoist and the cage was once more pulled up at full speed. Then was seen a ghastly and pitiful sight. Three brothers, from Yorkshire, England, all strong young men, were working in the Crown Point Mine. George Bickle, one of the three, stood on the cage insensible, leaning over his dead brother, Richard, and holding him with a grip which could scarcely be loosened. Richard Bickle had sunk down upon the bottom of the cage as it was drawn up, his head and arm were torn almost completely from his body by the side timbers of the shaft. The dead and dying brothers were parted by kind hands, and George Bickle was laid tenderly upon a rude couch in the hoisting-works by the side of other sufferers, who like him, were past all help of medicine. They gasped faintly for some hours and then their troubled breathing ceased forever. (James Bickle was never recovered)" Our information: Died April 7, 1869, Richard Bickle approximate age 33; George Bickle approximate age 30; James Bickle approximate age 28 or 29. All natives of England, possibly Cornwall or Yorkshire. Could someone confirm where these brothers originated from? Could birth dates also be provided? We believe the three brothers came to this area alone, and assume they were probably miners before coming here. Any information, advice or direction we should take to obtain more on these brothers is deeply appreciated. They were brave, hardy men, and deserve an accurate accounting of their place in our history. Thank you, Alexis Dillon, USGen Coordinator, Storey County, Nevada
