Hi Jean, The 1817 baptism of Mary Anne WELLS at St. Michael's, Bath gave the parents' names as James and Jane. I didn't find a Bath marriage for a James and Jane, but there is a possible match in the Marriage Index Vol 8 Diocese of Bristol 1813-1837 produced by Bristol & Avon Family History Society. www.bafhs.org.uk James WELLS and Jane KING, were married, by banns, on 14th. March 1816, at St. Paul's Church, Portland Square, Bristol. Both were of the parish. This may be a red herring, but it's best to leave no stone unturned:-) Josephine --
I would like to thank all the heavy gun grey cells - Josephine, Bernice, Marsha whose input has given me decent matter to consider. It helps narrow the field. I have today been working on another line mostly today and am beginning to suffer from mental indigestion - so many names repeat, both Christian and surnames.
