Hi Listers, I attended the Bristol & Avon Family History Society Open Day at Thornbury, today, and had an enjoyable time. Of course, on getting there, I made a beeline for the B & A FHS stall to buy the new CD, Bristol Apprenticeship Books Vols 1(o) to 1(z) Index & Transcripts 1724-2009. I've just had a quick look at it and have already found the name of my ancestor, carpenter, John Pearce MORRIS, three times in the Master's Name Index. The apprentices shown against these entries are: George BISS, father Cornelius, labourer, father's abode Walton, Som (1807) James Joseph SWEET, father, John deceased, father's abode Clifton (1818) George WARNER, father John, father, labourer, father's abode Clifton, Glos (1822) Interestingly, I see that the wife's name is included in the Master's Name Index. My ancestor's wife's name was Edey and her name is included in the 1808 details for an apprentice, Isaac WOLF, of my carpenter ancestor. In this entry, my ancestor was recorded as John MORRIS. Isaac's father was a labourer called John whose abode was Bristol. Edey's name is included in the details for George BISS (1807), but not in the details for James Joseph SWEET (1818)and George WARNER (1822) because she was dead by then. Josephine
