Even more important Elaine, get the film of the original record out,. that will save a lot of heartache and misinformtion. Maybe two of the records ie Prish regist and maybe Bishops transcripts it is advised that two records for the same event. Costs only about $7 dollars to view at your nearest Latter Day Saints church. The Parish records have more information on them than the transcribed indexes do. This is the CD of Bristol Diocese (South Glos) Marriage Registers Vol 11 Groom & Bride Indexes & Transcripts 1837-1901 produced by Bristol & Avon Family History Society. www.bafhs.org.uk It's a wonderful resource as it shows status, age, the brides' and grooms' occupations, where they lived, whether they signed the register or marked, their fathers' names and occupations, witnesses and whether they signed or marked. Of course I am speaking once yuu get beyond the census records which usually give whole families, then you are on your own with only the Parish registers. We know that even the place of birth can be wrong on the census records as well. Also infomtion on maraige certs etc. My mum and dads marraige certificate had as my mums father her brothers name and a totally unkown fther . walter Place as his fther. There are no Walter Place in my familyline anywhere. I know my grandfather was Edward Ernest Place. They wee not illiterate so dont know why they didnt have it altered. I think it costs now to have a cert altered so maybe that was why Edie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edie" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, September 16, 2012 4:39 PM Subject: Re: [B&S] Lesson learnt > Even more important Elaine, get the film of the original record out,. that > will save a lot of heartache and misinformtion.
