Hi Colin, I've looked at your www.talltalesfromthetrees.blogspot.com and noticed a piece on your 3x great-uncle, Thomas Richard Guppy (1797-1882). I remembered the name from a message that I sent to the list in February 2005, which includes the information that his wife was called Henrietta Collins Jennings. You may be interested in information about Henrietta's family. If you search the B & S archives for 6th. October 2003 for 'Jennings Collins Clifton' and 7th. October 2003 for 'JENNINGS, William Collins, corn merchant 1835, Bristol' you will find some information on him. More information is on 3rd. March 2004 in a post entitled 'Chepstow sloop-"Somersetshire" '. My husband was sceptical that I remembered the surname Guppy, but I could tell him that I remembered it because it reminded me that I went to a hairdresser called Miss Guppy in July 1961.
