I'm looking for any information about my 3x great uncle William Collins JENNINGS (1808-1860) and his sometime business partner John Capel JENNINGS (1803-1869). Josephine has posted here about his purchase of a sloop, the Somersetshire, in 1835. I can't find any more than Josephine posted about the ship, and the purchase seems surprising because he was declared bankrupt in 1833, 1837, and 1843 (and perhaps on other occasions). He died in Hackney, a long way from his Somerset roots, with an estate worth less than £20. His 1843 file for bankruptcy has a tremendous list of former addresses. In 1833 he was a corn merchant in partnership with John Capel JENNINGS (1803-1869) about whom I can find almost nothing - I presume they were related, and both have connections to Congresbury. Does anyone have anything about either of them, or suggestions about where to look? I know there was discussion here about WCJ back in 2004, and I recently wrote an article about his four sisters' marriages (here - http://talltalesfromthetrees.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/william-henry-castle-181 0-1865-and.html). Grateful for any pointers! www.colinsalter.co.uk www.talltalesfromthetrees.blogspot.co.uk
