Dear List, I am writing a book on my GGrandfathers life and am hoping to include his siblings, however I don't know anything about them to date.My GGrandfather was William Smith born 1811 in Midsomer Norton to John Smith and Hannah Gregory. William had a brother Richard born 1813 that I have a small amount of information on but he had 2 sisters, Mary who was a twin (Joseph the other twin died aged 5) born in 1816 and Rachel born in 1820.There was another brother Joseph born 1823 who died aged 16 in 1839. I am trying to find anything on Mary and Rachel and all avenues here in Australia are getting me nowhere so I thought maybe some kind soul on this list might be able to help by checking any local records that would be unavailable to us here .I have no information on them at all and don't know if they married and had children or if they died young etc so any information would be wonderful. Would there be anybody on the list researching this same family. Regards, Elaine Skehan, In very hot Victoria, Australia.

Hi Elaine, There's information on your SMITH family from Midsomer Norton on the Somerset Coalfield Connections site: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=pjc4ax&id=I06064 There may be something in the information there, which you don't already have. > I am trying to find anything on Mary and Rachel and all avenues here in > Australia are getting me nowhere Back in 2000, you mentioned that Rachel married a miner, Joseph JONES, in 1844, and that they were in Radstock in 1881: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/Bristol_and_Somerset/2000-03/0953462531 Perhaps someone will be able to find them in the 1851, 1861 and 1871 censuses for you. If they can't be found in the Somerset censuses, as Joseph was a miner the family may have travelled to Wales for work at some time. Josephine
