    3. I have been a member of this group for quite a while because my g g grandparents married in Bristol, I have since found that the g g grandmother (Mary Ann Gould) was from the Gurney Slade area in Somerset and was likely working in Bristol at the time she met and married my g-g-grandfather. He was Thomas Giddings and on their marriage record he was listed as living at Queen's Square and that his father was the deceased Charles Giddings the father and son were listed as Sawyers, this was in 1875. I have not ever been able to find a birth record that matched the criteria for Thomas b march 1851, nor found him on a census that matched in any way, in Bristol or any where else, I feel he was not orriginally from Bristol. I have discovered concentrations of Giddings' in a couple of other villages but none that fit my Thomas. Thomas and Mary Ann immigrated to Canada right after they were married and i can follow them all the way to the present cousins here. I stay in this group because I like readuing all the interesting little goodies that people post. I like learning about Bristol back in those days. I'm wondering whether the list members of a decade ago, who are no longer active on the list, are still researching or whether they found everything they wanted to know about their families and moved on to other pastimes. Although I am no longer so absorbed in my family and local history research as I once was, I know that there are still many snippets of information to discover. I love the thrill of the chase, but I don't care so much for the writing up of my discoveries. This winter I must make an attempt to fill in some of the blanks.
