I have found an entry -County of Somerset - Persons Committed or Bailed to appear for Trial Midsommer Session., in the Shire Hall at Taunton 17th June 1876. Listed is Isabella CARD - crime Larceny simple., sentenced to 3 months. My Isabella born 3 Feb. 1862 at Westbury is with her grandmother Ann STOCK in the 1871 census aged 9 (her mother had died and father Charles remarried) but the above are the last entries I can find for her. I ask is there anywhere I can confirm further from records that the Criminal entry is my Isabella and any further details. Patricia G.

Hi Patricia, The most likely sources of information are probably the newspapers and the calendar of prisoners for the quarter session at Taunton. Unfortunately, neither are likely to be on-line records. A major crime might be found in on-line newspapers, but I don't think 3 months for larceny qualifies as this ! Your best bet would be either to visit Somerset Record Office or hire a researcher to look into it. I think you're in Australia, so the former may not be practical. Given that you know the exact date of the sessions, it should not take a researcher long to find out what information is available. It will usually include the age of the person, so that may be sufficient to confirm whether the person is "your" Isabella Card.
