Hi Susan, I must have passed Parnall's at Yate around 2,750 times on journeys to and from school, but I never thought about what was made there or in the Newman's factory, nearby. Nowadays, we can put fingers to keyboard and find out such things. Here's a web page, on the Yate Heritage Centre web site, about factories in Yate, which may be of interest: http://www.yateheritage.co.uk/history-of-yate/the-factory-age.htm It includes a small section on 'The Blitz comes to Yate!'.
