    3. Remembering the Fourth Bristol Blitz of Friday 3rd. January - Saturday 4th. January, 1941, 70 years ago tonight. Bristolians endured an air raid, lasting nearly 12 hours during which a bomb weighing 4,000 lb was dropped. Fortunately the bomb didn't explode. Having been made safe, it was later displayed in the Victory Parade through the streets of London in 1945. That night the docks were hit including the Granary on Prince's Wharf, where 8,000 tons of grain were lost. A contemporary account of this all-night blitz noted that the docks and Redcliffe Street were 'one blazing mass.' -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com
