    3. Hi Chris, Let me know the results of your research. I checked my JEFFERIES entries in my genealogy file and I don't have a Chris or Christopher. I traced my branch back from Bristol to Siston, Gloucester. It would be interesting to know if the lineage of the accused also goes back there. 3. I traced my Jefferies with certainty back to my GG grandfather Thomas Jefferies born around the early 1790s. I have a range of 12 year for his birth date from the mid 1780s to mid 1790s but if you ignore the death date and that in the 1841 census you get to a birth date in the early 1890s. He is probably the son of Thomas Jefferies and Hannah Stone baptised at Syston in 1792. This is the parish where most Jefferies, Jefferis etc can be found and I estimate that pre 1800 around 1/3 of the graves are variations of the surname. I have 125 Jefferies on my Tree and I have no other Christopher Jefferies on my tree either. The person in question has now been released on police bail but someone said that he was born somewhere in Lincolnshire but I don't know how true that is. However it is still possible that his ancestors came from the Bristol area originally.
