Yesterday, I had an excellent result with the surname PRESS and I've just put the surname GOODLAND into the search and a number of events with recognizable relatives has come up." This made me sit up as I had been trawling through my names and found my great great uncle Thomas J JAY marrying a Mary Ann GOODLAND She was a widow of a John GOODLAND .Thomas was the second son of Matthew & Joanna JAY born 1860. He was previously married to Maria JOY (sic) The JAY familys lived in Factory Street , Barton Hill Incidentaly, the entry has Barton Hill as being Somersetshire although north of the river this is the first time I've seen it quoted as such. A search for another surname, and still filtered just for the Bristol Parish Registers, appears as being in the parish St Peter, Wapley way outside of the city. So the coverage is variable although I think on further investigation these particular ones are all burials , 1340 of them !! In addition I have found some thirty or so 'new' baptisms including some new Christian names for a FELTHAM I only had as a BADEN and unknown children that died in infancy between census years Well worth spending time on this site Somersetshire, Barton Hill, St Luke parents: George Hallett spouse: Thomas Jay marriage: 24 Dec 1900 - Barton Hill, St Luke, Somersetshire, England record title : England, Bristol Parish Registers, 1538-1900 name: Thomas Jay event: MARRIAGE event date: 24 Dec 1900 event place: Barton Hill, St Luke, Somersetshire, England gender: Male marital status: Widowed father: Matthew Jay spouse: Mary Ann Goodland spouse's marital status: Widowed spouse's father: George Hallett digital folder number:4205012 Grant Feltham

Hi Grant, As your message came through I was still trawling through my GOODLANDs. Of course I had to see if I had a John GOODLAND, who could have been Mary's Ann's husband, but all the people called John GOODLAND, in my tree, lived much earlier. > Well worth spending time on this site Yes, indeed! But I am spending too much time on it! It's like being a child and having the pick of sweets in a sweetshop! Josephine -- Josephine Jeremiah www.ianandjo.dsl.pipex.com
