Hello Listers Thanks to Chris Jefferies' recent posting regarding the Bristol Parish Registers I have moved a fraction further in my search for information on my Power family. It would appear that my great grandparents, Cecil Randolph POWER and Alice POWER nee HARRIS, had a daughter that I did not know of. The Baptism of Lucia POWER - parents Cecilii and Aliciae POWER took place at St. Nicolas of Tolentino on 19th May 1891. (The names are given in Latin as this was a Roman Catholic baptism). Interestingly, this baptism took place a month prior to the birth of my grandmother, Kathleen Frances POWER on 23rd June 1891. This presents a bit of a mystery. Presumably Lucy was born in 1990, but I can find no record of her birth. I speculate that she may have been baptised because she was in danger of death, but I can find no death record. Neither can I find any record of the baptisms of my grandmother or any of her other siblings who were:- Lilian b. 1882 Gladys b. 1884 Edith b. 1886 Elsie b. 1888 Lucy b. ? Kathleen b. 1891 (my grandmother) Wilfred b. 1893 Sydney b. 1895 Eugenie b. 1897 My late Aunt said that there were two boys who both died (names not known). Cecil Randolph POWER died in 1899. I am still trying to find out where and when Cecil Randolph was born and who his parents were. His marriage certificate gives his father's name as Thomas POWER. The 1891 Census states that he was born in Bristol. However, I know that there are Irish connections, so this may be incorrect. I have long had it in the back of my mind that Cecil Randolph's mother was called Lucy (a dim recollection from my childhood that my be incorrect). Having found this new child I am now thinking that this may be the case. If anyone can help with suggestions as to where to go from here, I would be most grateful. Incidentally, I also found the Christening details of Alice HARRIS, my great grandmother in these newly released records, so thanks again Chris. Regards Millie Original Message: On 3rd Jan 2011 "England, Bristol Parish Registers, 1538-1900" was added to Family Search. It contains over 270,000 records indexed by volunteers including me as part of the Bristol Parish Records project on Family Search Indexing which was completed in December. Contrary to the title I don't think it contains any pre 1837 records but it does contain many records well into the early 1900s.
