It's always interesting to learn more about such things. Using the word "vesture" rather than "vestment", I've had a further look into this and found that, if "white vesture""token" is put into the Google Books search, a number of references come up in full page views. One of these references is on page 87 in A Glossary: or Collection of Words, Phrases, Names, and Allusions to Customs, Proverbs, &c. ... by Robert Nares (1822).
