I was checking the 1911 census for some of my ALLEN family and find one of them somewhat confusing. Walter ALLEN was born in Bristol in 1864. He married Mary WALTERS 1892 in Bath. So far, all is well. I have the 1900 census where they are living at 26 Denmark Place, Twerton, Bath with children: Edith M ALLEN 3Q 1893 Twerton, Bath Ethel M ALLEN 2Q 1895 Twerton, Bath Walter Alfred ALLEN Dec 1900 Twerton, Bath By the 1911 census Mary says she is a widow (we've heard that one before!) Edith ALLEN - still at home Ethel is missing - she could be away working but I can't find her. Neither can I find her death unless she is the 14 year old in Tiverton but I feel not. Walter Alfred ALLEN now referred to as Alfred. Gwendoline Mary ALLEN 2Q 19 Twerton, Bath (She died 3Q 1947) May Lydia B. ALLEN 2Q 1907 Bath - she's actually visiting her uncle and aunt Leslie ALLEN c.1908/9 Bath but could it be Leslie John born Bristol? Now for the problems...Leslie would have to be born bet 1Q 1908 - 2Q 1909 - there doesn't appear to be one born Bath unless she had already moved as she was in Horfield, Bristol in 1911. I can't find the death of husband Walter unless he's the Walter who died 2Q 1906 age 44...but, he should be younger than that! If that's him then Leslie is not his child. Not only is that a problem but she then declares she's only had 5 children whereas she's had 6 children!
