Hi: Where would I look for information on freemen of the city in Bristol? I have an ancestor named Joseph Hyde who was a blacksmith. I'm not sure if he would have served his apprenticeship in Bristol or elsewhere in Gloucestershire. He was living in St. Phillips & Jacob parish on the 1851 census, although he was born in Horsley, Gloucester.
