There aren't any SAGEs the Hearth Tax volume. I'll have a look in the other one later. I've just come back from our local MIU with my dau who might have a fractured wrist as a result of walking into a lamp post(!) and am waiting on my son coming in from college so I can get her to the nearest A+E for an Xray. If it's anything like last Wednesday when my son fell downstairs and dislocated his shoulder, I won't get back until about midnight! -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk

    3. Many thanks for looking at the SAGEs, Charani. Your message reminded me that I have Bernard Welchman's CD which includes the Hearth Tax returns, the Hearth Tax exemption certificates, and Stoate's completion of the exemptions and index. (Dwelly never completed this work.) Sorry - my interpretation of the small print is that I should not offer look-ups from this, but it is very reasonably priced for those interested in the period. And yes, there are SAGEs in the 'exemption' sections! We obviously were no better off in those days, than I feel now. Very glad to hear your daughter is OK after her misadventure.
