Hi Amanda: This is probably not relevant to your quest but I have 5 generations of Fishers (sometimes written Fysher) Many of my ancestors hailed from the Bristol area but the only birthplace designation I have for the Fishers is "England" Emlyne Fisher c1666 m. John Eastmond of West Antsey, Devon Emlyne's father was John Fisher c1639 m. Emlin Edward Fisher c1620 Edward Fysher c1596 John Fysher c1575 The above summary is all I know. It is a forlorn hope but if you see a connection please let me know. Thank you. Has anyone got FISCHER ancestry in the 1700s? I don't have a specific person, just scrawled notes on a roughly drawn family tree mentioning that the next generation back was a FISCHER. Since Ive been stuck on this generation for years, I started to wonder if it might be worth a stab further back. I did find some FISSCHERs in the Bristol Calendar of Wills in 1400s so they were about, but haven't quite got that far back yet!!!!! LOL It looks to be a German variant, does anyone know if this perhaps was the accepted spelling much earlier?
