Whilst at the Gloucestershire Family History Open Day last weekend, I picked up three little guide books, one of which was for Somerset by GW and JH Wade and published by Methuen. It's like a mini version of the VCH :)) It's illustratred, with two maps and two plans as well. The first edition was published in 1905. I have a copy of the fifth edition, published in 1920.
