Hello Charani, I think we should take some consolation that they do not (yet) require a man with a red flag to walk in front! In many parts of London roads around schools have a 20 mph speed limit (around school start and end times). I understand it has reduced the number of child-related accidents quite considerably. Plus, during the rush hours one cannot get up to 20 mph in many parts of the country. Even the M25 orbital motorway (or car park!) grinds to a halt in many parts despite having been widened to 4 or 5 lanes each way in many parts.. An expansion perhaps of Parkinson's Law that road usage expands to fill any new lanes built? Phil Orpington (within 4 miles of Junction 4 of M25!)
