Hi Roger You've certainly got a conundrum there. John LOCKE born 3Q 1842 in Newport, Mon. Ellen Ann LOCKE born 2Q 1844 in Clifton District (might not be her as it's Clifton not Bedminster - there are other LOCKEs in Clifton) Lionel was Lionel Richard LOCKE born 3Q 1847 in Bedminster District. There is an Emma KNIGHT - FS in 1841 working in Portbury. If they were my direct lines I would definitely send for the Birth Certificate of Lionel which would give you his mother's maiden name and his father's name. For me that would be a "must". Good luck and do let us know the outcome.
