Hi Martin, Thank you for th#atr link, but it was the earlier reference to this site that had made me go there, find a WARN (no final "E") in the1836 Land Tax transcriptions and then pose the question. For family history purposes, I think we are "supposed" to consider the parish at the state (date) that we are dealing with and Land Tax records in 1836 and the census records refer to Bitton as in Gls, so that is what I have considered it.
