One certificate and one census concerning my grandmothers place of birth says Clifton Bristol and the other Clifton Somerset. Copuld anyone clarify if this is the same place or are there two thank you Michael McDonnell Australia
As Charani says, there is only one Clifton. If the Birth Certificate says Clifton, Bristol then that is correct. If the census says Clifton, Somerset then that was the opinion of the person who completed the info. It may be that they moved a bit further down the hill into Long Ashton or Bedminster which would be referred to as Somerset. The two areas abut each other so it's easy to get it wrong.
