    3. Whatever happened to Augusta Taylor b abt 1812 Bristol according to 1851 census, appears to have 3 children but is listed as unmarried in 1851. Although when her daughters marry they claim their father was John Taylor a mariner. After 1851 no trace of Augusta or of her son James b abt 1839 Bristol ( no trace of a birth registration )after 1851 so what happened to them. 3. Hi Tony There are several options here. 1. Many women put "unmarried" when they are actually widowed. I'm sure others have come across this before. 2. They emigrated. 3. John Taylor went AWOL so Augusta married again between 1851 - 1861 so you would be looking for a new name. 4. She never married John Taylor! Having said that, there is a marriage of an Augusta Sophia TAYLOR in Bristol in 3rd quarter 1852 so, did she remarry? Check on Henry BRIMSTON and William COXON to see if either of them were married to her. I then tried to find your Augusta TAYLOR in 1851 on Ancestry and I can't see her!! You don't mention the names of her children apart from James and I can't find a James TAYLOR born Bristol c.1839.
