Hi Adrian, While there was no death registered for John BALLARD between 1841 and 1851 on FreeBMD there was the following: Elizabeth BALLARD death registered 4th Qtr 1850 Clifton Vol 11, Pg 229. Unfortunately it doesn't give an age at death, so it would be necessary to order the certificate to find out. Did you search the 1851 census using just the first name and all the other particulars you have? Sometimes that can reveal a mistranscription of massive proportions.
