    3. I wonder if anyone can help me understand the parish registers for Lyncombe and Widecombe. On FreeReg there are baptisms, marriages and burials for the period 1813-1837 the church is shown as St Mark. However according to details of St Mark it was not built and consecrated until 1832. Prior to this the church is shown as St Thomas a Becket. There is a note that says all marriages between 1754 and 1843 were solemnised at St James church (Bath) and recorded in that register except for 1813-1837 which were recorded in a separate register. 3. Hi Tony, According to "Discover Widcombe and Lyncombe, Bath" by Maurice Scott, Widcombe Old Church (St. Thomas a Becket) dates from c. 1500. St. Mark's church was built in 1832, but was initially named Widcombe Chapel. It later became St. Mark's church. Hope this helps, Mike Gould Leicestershire -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Tony Harrison Sent: 23 October 2010 09:16 To: [email protected] Subject: [B&D] Lyncombe and Widecombe I wonder if anyone can help me understand the parish registers for Lyncombe and Widecombe.
