    3. Hi Nancy, Thanks for the information about the Pharos online course. I had already found their website through Google, and am considering enrolling. So it was very helpful to receive such positive feedback. Living where I do (in Israel), there are no (non-Jewish) family history centres here, so I'm very much isolated and dependent on Internet for my FH research; so I imagine that an online course such as Pharos would be a great support. My time zone here is GMT+2, so it might mean an occasional late night for me... but I can always lie in late in the morning! There is another American firm called WhollyGenes that also does the same thing. I've always wanted to go on one of their Cruises. Last week I finished a Pharos Tutors [http://www.pharostutors.com/index.php] online course on how to become a professional genealogist. It was great. Today I signed up for another one about researching in Devon. The Pharos courses last abour four weeks each and consist of a Lesson send to you, Exercises for you to do and post your results to the private forum for your class, and once a week, there is a chat session which is like sitting around in the livingroom discussing the results so far. It was not only information, but a lot of fun and I met some great people from all over the world. They cost c. £37.00 per Course, but I got a discount on the Devon one as I am a member of the Devon Family History Society. Yes, the time zones couls create a problem, but the only one that you had to be 'on time' for is the chat. They held it at 9:00 pm London England time, which was 4:00 pm in the afternoon for me, so not a problem. I believe in Australia it was 9:00 am. While I don't use The Master Genealogist or the Legacy genealogy programs, I try to participate in their FREE courses, but have only paid for the Pharos one. Online learning is very popular these days, and works very well. Regards, Nancy Frey Newcastle, Ontario, CANADA OPC for Ansford & Castle Cary, Somerset Moderator of Yahoo!
