Hello Lynne We've been in touch before about the Plumptons - I am a friend of John Plumpton, a great grandson of John & Rachel. John was told by his grandfather (who was brought up by his grandparents Charles & Rhoda), that his mother Rachel called on him when he was older but he rejected her saying 'you abandoned me when I was a child'. The John you are looking for was shown as deceased on the marriage cert of John & Louisa Hewett in 1895.
