Hello I have recently joined the list and in need of some advice ... until now, no known relatives in this part of England! I am looking into a marriage that occured between George CHAPMAN and Elizabeth BENDALL on 22 April 1816 at St Augustine The Less, Bristol, Gloucester. This marriage seems to be a possible fit with information that I already have ... Does anyone have this couple on their tree? In my tree, I have a widow, Elizabeth CHAPMAN who remarries in Middlesex in 1824. Her eldest daughter's name was Sarah Chapman HIBBLE and from census records it would appear that she (the daughter) was born in Bath. I have found baptismal records in Middlesex for all children that Elizabeth and her second husband had, but not for Sarah. Sarah's death certificate confirms her birth place as Bath, England and notes that Elizabeth BENDALL was her mother's name, and her father as Charles HIBBLE. I am now thinking that Sarah was actually the daughter of the first husband (whose first name I haven't been able to confirm), as it seems unlikely that Elizabeth's second husband would want his first born child's second/middle name to be that of his wife's deceased first husband ... if that makes sense!!!!!!!!! I would think it more likely that Sarah CHAPMAN later took the surname of her mother's second husband. Any further information on either the marriage or where to look for Sarah or Elizabeth's baptismal records in Bath would be appreciated - have checked the IGI for the baptismal record - no success for Sarah and a few too many Elizabeth BENDALLs to narrow down. Sarah's year of birth, from records located thus far, would indicate a date range of between 1817 and 1823. >From the 1851 census, Elizabeth BENDALL was also born in Bath, c 1796. Many thanks Beth NZ
