The new Somerset Record Office opens today. It's now the Somerset Heritage Centre because it incorporates the local studies library as well as the archives and other collections which have previously been scattered around the county. One of the major changes is that they no longer accept CARN cards issued at other record offices/archives. They will only accept those issued by themselves, so be prepared to take ID with you. There is a slight change to their opening hours as well, including alternate Saturday opening from 2 October.
