Seeking a baptism for William, he was buried 3 Mar 1836 P and J, aged 84 yrs making a birth date of around 1752. There is a patron entry on IGI for a Wm TOVEY abt abt 1751 with a wife Sarah,, no surname, with four children, but not the ones I have, these are bapt St James. William was a Presser or Hot Presser, he lived in Ann Stand Eugene St. He was made a Burgess under the surname of PUFFEY,Presser. by his father in law Francis RATTENBURY/ROTTENBURY a weaver, in Oct 1774 There is a note in the margin which is very hard to read, 'This persons name is TOVEY .... ... a certificate granted consent ... proper ... ... ... ... ... of those Aldermen 5 Oct 1812 - N HARRIS. this date makes it 38 years after the event, but it is the day that William TOVEY stood as Patron for his son in law George COOK and three other men, anmd a further man the following day.
