I find so few people use the Free BMD Postem Notes. These really are so easy to use and so useful. Yes, you've paid for your certificates but you don't have to put the details of the certificates on the Postem Notes. Over recent years I've realised that just putting "Certificate held by (your email address)" means that anyone finding this is likely to contact you and you will very probably have found a new distant relative to add to your tree. I would really like to encourage you to use this site. I now have at least 42 Birth Certificates, 46 Marriage Certificates and 30 Death Certificates on there. So far 3 people have contacted me about them. The more people who use this facility the better for everyone concerned. If you don't know what I'm talking about or how to access the site then please ask. Liz www.btinternet.com/~e.newbery OPC for Street, Somerset
Hi Liz Thank you for the info I hope that I am not alone in understanding or knowing about the Postem Notes I would personally find it useful if there was a site or similar where we could find out what Postem notes are all about & how to use them Jeff Peacock --- On Thu, 25/2/10, Liz <e.newbery@btinternet.com> wrote: > From: Liz <e.newbery@btinternet.com> > Subject: [B&D] Postem Notes - please use > To: bristol_and_district@rootsweb.com > Date: Thursday, 25 February, 2010, 12:43 > I find so few people use the Free BMD > Postem Notes. That will open a new page which will allow you to make a correction, add a Postem or view an image if there's one available. Go down to the paragraph about Postems and click where it says. That will take you to another new page which has a box into which you can add your note or cert details. You have a limited space in which to add the details but it's usually enough. I add baptismal informtion as well. This can be useful where a sibling is missing from the GRO index. His/her details can be added to another sibling whose registration is in the index. Likewise, I've added the baptismal details to a child who was born in Cornwall but was baptised in Kent. Have a look at William George J ROGERS, married St Olave, Q4 1896 and click on the little envelope. -- Charani (UK) OPC for Walton, Greinton and Clutton, SOM Asst OPC for Ashcott and Shapwick, SOM http://wsom-opc.org.uk
Liz, I didn't realise that the Postem facility existed. I've posted two at critical brick-wall related relatives!!
