Well, David, let me tell you what I have on Peter and Hester. Peter was b abt 1770, SOM and Hester abt 1783 Chew Magna, SOM. By 1851, Hester is a widow. I have no d/o/d for Peter, but it must be between 1841 and 1851. They married 28 Jul 1805, Chew Magna.Their children, all bp Chew Magna, are:- Maria 6 Apr 1806 Maria 21 Aug 1808 Elizabeth 29 Dec 1811 John 19 Oct 1817 Hester 7 Jan 1821 Sarah 24 Aug 1823 William 22 Jul 1827 So it looks as if your mystery William and Robert are in the previous generation. I have a similar problem with Peter and his siblings, including my 3GGF, James, bp 15 Jun 1788, George b abt 1775 and Charlotte b abt 1795. In fact, I'd constructed this family of four siblings and had to name their father 'X' until I found out who he was. Pat Hase was enormously helpful about this and discovered that a James, s/o James and Mary BEACHAM, was bp at Chew Magna and that a James BEACHAM m a Sarah TAYLOR at Bristol St James 21 Nov 1814, the only candidates so far for my 4GGP. Whether the four siblings are the only children James and Mary had, I don't know, but I have to say it looks as though there is a William- and Robert-shaped space in that line-up. If this looks at all helpful, I'll let you know anything else I have on the family. Kind regards Joy
Interesting Joy as I have Chew Magna people marrying at St James, Bristol too. I thought it was really too far away but I'm now happy that you have them marrying there too, Liz www.btinternet.com/~e.newbery OPC for Street, Somerset ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joy Hungerford" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 17, 2011 10:43 AM Subject: Re: [B&D] John BEACHAM b 1817; William and Robert BEECHAM/ BEACHAM. I think one of my research weaknesses is that I assume people stayed put - but they jolly well didn't! It's also very easy to miss an event which took place in one of the very next villages.
