The aim is to photograph every grid square in Britain. It's also a good place to look for images of places of interest in connection with where your families lived. Images are being regularly added so if there's nothing today, there could be next month. If you have any, consider adding them. 3. Further to my recent post regarding the marriage of Henry Beard to Ann Shearman Nichols b abt 1813 I have now received the marriage certificate which shows they were both residing Redcliffe Street. Henry was shown as 50 on 1841 census so could be born between 1786 and 1791 on the 1851 census he is shown as 57 (b 1794)but he could have lost a few years when he married Ann Henry's father is shown as James Beard a gunsmith and Ann's father is shown as Edward Nichols a Butcher. An Edward Nichols is shown in Mathews directory of 1799 as a butcher in Radcliffe Street. Can anyone help me find any information on any of these people. Tony

    3. Hi Tony, According to "Discover Widcombe and Lyncombe, Bath" by Maurice Scott, Widcombe Old Church (St. Thomas a Becket) dates from c. 1500. St. Mark's church was built in 1832, but was initially named Widcombe Chapel. It later became St. Mark's church. I once thought it was bad mannered not to thank others for their help but now I realise that this is not always due to bad manners. I am mostly a listener in to this forum and enjoy reading of your journeys. Thankyou. Take care, Gordon.

    3. Hi Charani, Perhaps the Waterloo in question was in London. I do have a DAVIDGE family very early on in London, but searching the PRs is difficult as there are so many churches and people didn't seem to stick to one church. I'm plowing my way through many parishes which I have on CD looking for DAVIDGE and other specific surnames in London. But I still have to rule out there being a small village, now incorporated into a larger one, in Somerset. Frome is a likely candidate and I will be posting to the Frome Yahoo! Group for information on Waterloo. All this new information is really fantastic. After years of dormancy, all of a sudden there is an interest in the surname DAVIDGE from all over the place, including people I have been corresponding with for ages who never mentioned the surname before, lol. I believe you are most interested in the SAGE connection, so when I get that sorted out, I'll send you what I have. Jim Goodman has been a real gem in doing all this research, as I don't believe he has any interest in the surname.
