Hi everyone, Since I'm thinking about BRISBINs this morning I wanted to throw out a question about this William BRISBIN. Several years ago Muriel Brisbin Morrison hired an Illinois professional researcher and she turned up the following, these are my notes: 1830: Deed Book D 74, Mary Brisbin Nov. 17, 1830 to William Gordon. She signs as being of full age. The researcher typed over the name of the county where the land is located and I cannot read it. She says that this was recorded in Morgan Co. as Scott was not yet cut off from Morgan. 8-T14-R11W nr Li... The photocopy cuts off this word. 1830: The land patent in Green County, IL is located below Carrollton on Link Branch in Woodville/Kane area. Residence 11 Dec. 1830, Adams Co, IL W1/2NW section 12 to 1-12 80 acres. ~In the "History of Morgan Co. Illinois' at Seattle Public Library I found this on page 432; "LYNNVILLE - Before the erection of the school building William Brisbine had taught at his own home in this neighborhood." The school house was built in 1830. Muriel's researcher felt that this would mean that he was married at this time. 1833: G 45 Deed #2969. $50.00, Oct 2, 1833, William Brisbin and his wife, Mary Brisbin of Green Co., IL., sell 22-13-11 land "his Edwardsville purchase to James Wilson of Morgan County, IL in the presence of Justice of Peace and Jesse V. Mounts." 1834: There is another deed in Deed Book G8, deed dated Jan. 30, 1834, residents of Green County, IL; William and Mary Brisbin sell Section 22, T13-11 land, by his attorney-in-fact, Absalom Clark. The researcher noted that 'attorney-in-fact' is usually a family member. Does anyone know exactly what "attorney-in-fact" means? We found that after James D. Savage died in California his brother Morgan R. Savage from Oregon represented their father, Peter S. Savage of Illinois, as his 'attorney-in-fact'. So perhaps Absalom CLARK is a family member working with the estate of that William BRISBIN? We think that William BRISBIN is the brother of John BRISBIN, father Frances Ann Brsibin SAVAGE. Any ideas? Thank you. Jackie Savage Marshall ==== BRISBIN Mailing List ==== Visit the Brisbin Family List Home Page! http://www.rootsweb.com/~daisy/brisbin.htm
