Hi BRISBIN fans! Does that name look familiar or what? This week Anne Trussell uncovered the Probate Estate Papers of Charles Wesley BRISBIN, 1857, Benton County, Oregon. Heirs listed were: Listed 6 Oct 1857 William BRISBIN, Umpqua County, Oregon Territory John BRISBIN, ___, Illinois ____ BRISBIN, Texas HIBBARD'S wife R. DUNBAR'S wife M. SAVAGE'S wife, the women all in Oregon Territory Listed 3 Nov 1857 William BRISBIN of Oregon Territory John BRSIBIN of Tazwell Co., Illinois Frances SAVAGE of Benton Co., Oregon Territory Nancy HIBERD [HIBBARD] of Marion Co., Oregon Territory Jane DUNBAR of Marion Co., Oregon Territory brother in Texas [Alexander BRISBIN] There are two things worring me about this list 1) Two sisters have been left off; Elizabeth BRISBIN MORGAN m to Charles F. MORGAN 1829 in Morgan Co., IL and Sarah Moore BRISBIN DURANT m to Edward DURANT 1829 in Morgan Co., IL. I have Sarah's death date as 24 Mar 1859 in Union Co., IL. 2) We had never seen the brother, John BRISBIN, before. I shouldn't be surprised though, every BRISBIN family has a John BRISBIN!! Yesterday I wrote to the GenWeb Look-Up person for Tazwell County, IL and here is what she sent me. It raises even more questions. Perhaps the census is simply wrong with that birthplace? He should have been born in Morgan County if he is the son of our John & Mary Miller Brisbin. This would make him a YOUNGER brother of our Frances Ann Brisbin SAVAGE.
