Thank You Jackie and others. I realize that my request for help in defining a great-grandfather was incomplete and confusing. My grandfather just talked about the George Mittinger Brisbin of Penn. because he thought it was neat to have a town named after some distant relative. The Brisbin that I am looking for would have been an Ohio Brisbin living near Jerry City (Wood County?) and marrying a Rebecca Gingery in the 1860's. There are five known children of this marriage, none of which I have birth years on except for Charles. They are Manford, Etta (married a Stage), Emma (married a Brandon), Phoebe (married a Phillips) and Charles Herbert (1871-1965 and married a Minnie Melvina Hill). The birth year for these should between 1860-1875). All spouses except for Manford should be of the Jerry City Ohio area. Manford should tie to latter generations of Brisbin's in Kansas. It is possible that the family ties into an Albert Brisbin (6/2/1845 - 10/30/1909) He was born in Huron Co. Ohio and lived in the Bowling Green, Wood Co. Ohio area. Albert was the son of Robert and Ph(o?)ebe (Call) Brisbin and married Susan Olive Jones. Their surviving children were Leda Stella, Jenny Zola and Edna Blanche Brisbin. A son dide at birth. Also before I go too far with this, What is the best genology software to use? I have Family Tree Maker (tm) but have not input a lot of data into it. Is it OK as a electronic file transfer system or is there a better system to use? I would like to share what I have when I get further along, without having to retype everything.
