    3. I found my notes. They're pretty sketchy. He was issued a pension of $80 a month on 29 Apr 1834, starting 4 March 1831, for his service from Pennsylvania. At this time (1831-1834), he was a resident of Allen Co., Kentucky. He made a statement on 14 October 1833, when he was aged 84, that he enlisted in spring 1778 with Captain Alexander Paterson of the Regulars at Strouds Mill near Easttown in Pennsylvania. Shortly thereafter, he marched under Captain Paterson to Valley Forge. Paterson's company was a part of the Regiment of Infantry (Regulars) of Colonel William Cook. From Valley Forge, they went to battle near Monmouth Courthouse (28 June 1778.) He became ill, and was hospitalized at Princeton, then rejoined the army at White Plains. Winter quarters 1778 were at Middlebrook. Eventually they arrived near Morristown, New Jersey, in the winter of 1779. (I seem to have developed writer's cramp at this point, because the only other thing I wrote about his experiences was, "Later joined Marines, captured, escaped." Sounds like the best part, and I left it out???) He said he was born at Kingwood, New Jersey, on 28 March 1749. My notes add that in 1787, he was listed on the tax lists with Zebulon, in Madison Co., KY. And that John Brinson (the father of Stout and Zebulon) was in the 1780 taxlist of Amwell, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.
