Hi, Judy and Robin! Don't know if I'll be able to shed much light on the Phillip Purser question, but I'll share what I have. My info comes from a book "Descendents of William Easley" compiled by Kyle Dameron, 1984. (My great-great-grandmother was a Brinson and married the grandson of William Easley.) In this book, the author cites *another* book entitled "Here, There and Yonder, Cason and Sons--A Brinson Genealogy": Gateway Press, Inc., Baltimore, 1982. It was published by Robert W. Brinson, 509 Shore Drive, Edgewater, MD 21037, and it is mentioned that "family members interested in details of the Brinson family could probably obtain a copy from the author's widow at the above address." Of course, that was 10 or 12 years ago. I don't know anything about Brinson information online, other than this list server. My FTM is only version 2, so I can't access the FTM stuff online. I'd like to upgrade, but probably won't be able to anytime soon. Anyway, here is what the Easley book says about James Brinson: James BRINSON, the 5th child of Cason BRINSON Sr. and wife Frances MARSH, was b. 5 Feb. 1730; d. 5 Feb. 1798 in Craven County, Goose Creek, NC. He married Kezia LINTON ca 1755-56, daughter of John LINTON. He became a preacher of the gospel of the New Light Baptist Faith and Order and co-founder of the First Baptist Church in New Bern, NC., the first of several generations of Baptist ministers in the BRINSON family. His children were: 1. Mathew BRINSON (b. 9 Apr. 1758; d. 24 July 1832), 2. Silas Cooke BRINSON (b. ca 1760; d. ca 1791), 3. James J. BRINSON Jr. (b. ca 1762; d. 5 Sept. 1831 Claiborne Parish, LA.), 4. Daniel BRINSON (b. ca 1764; d. 22 Nov. 1828), 5. Anna BRINSON (b. ca 1766), and 6. Nancy (Avi) BRINSON (b. ca 1768). James BRINSON served in the Revolutionary War, along with father Cason. He was a member of the NC Craven County Militia under Capt. Bryan. James J. BRINSON Jr., b. ca 1761 in Craven County, NC; d. 5 Sept. 1831 at Claiborne Parish, LA. He m. Patience PURSER 14 April 1783 in Craven County. Patience (b. 1761; d. 4 Oct., 1850, dau. of Phillip PURSER)... Then there is information on James Jr. and Patience Purser's 11 children, which I won't take time to re-type now. Let me know if anyone needs this information. I don't know any more information about the Pursers. I hope this was helpful to someone! I would be interested in exchanging descendency information with anyone descending from this same line.
