    1. The Brinson's/ Brimson's in English History
    2. Hi all, Some email's have been kindly sent on to me, so in answer to some. My name is David Brimson I am 36 & have been researching the Brimson/ Brinson surname for 10 years in England & Wales. In the last few years I have also started Brenson. These surnames In England & Wales are very rare & if I hadn't started doing a "One Name Study" I would have never have met anyone with these surnames. http://www.leicester.co.uk/guild/ I am also a member of the Somerset & Dorset Family History Sociey, Devon FHS & Oxfordshire FHS. These all have web pages. There are about 60 Brinson entries in Britain on the Phone but in the USA there are thousands. On the other hand there are hardly any Brimson's in the USA. I am trying to get a web page on the internet at the moment. It won't give vast amount's of information just an outline on what I am doing. The book by Robert W Brinson, Here There & Yonder is quite informative on the Brinson's in the USA. However the details on the early family in Essex is misleading. He say's for instance there were 10 Brinson families in Essex between 1790 ?- about 1890 or so. In fact there were none & ten Brinson families would be nearly all the Brinson's here in total !. The Brinson's for the past 3 or 4 hundred years have lived in the county of Dorset & Hampshire & on looking through the IGI you will find this. They have been farmers, net braider's, stone mason's & agricultural labourers. I have made no direct connection with any Brinson/Brimson family history & the Essex origin's yet, only by name origin, Brinson, Breanson, de Brianzon, de Brinzon, de Brianzoun, Brenson. Brunson maybe a variation as the Norman name was so hard to spell it became anglicized to just about any variation above. Most of the Brimson's lived in the counties of Wiltshire & Somerset in the last few hundred years, which border Dorset. My own branch of the Brimson's came from Tiverton in Devon which also borders Dorset & Somerset so we are a West Country lot. There are 2 town's in the USA called Brimson & a Brinson town. The Brimson town's are in MO & MI & were named after 2 railroad vice president's, William George Brimson & Walter Henry Brimson. They were brothers & had emigrated to the USA in the 1860's with their parent's & other brother & sister's. They all came from Tiverton & most of this family are buried in Chicago. The town of Brinson was as I have read established by a Simon Brinson (Georgia). I read this from a Chris Brinson of Baytown Texas. He has taken some pictures of the town, though I haven't looked yet :-0 Most of the info I have is of England though I do have a small tree of some Brinson's in the USA. I researched this whilst attending Kathy Brinson (now Musgrage, hi Kathy :-) wedding in New Bern, NC in June. We met on the internet through email & she was a good looking Brinson too ;-) I have all the Brinson's birth's, deaths & marriages from St Catherines House (now moved) in London. This is the principal repository for all these records in England & Wales from 1837 to date. I also have will's on every Brinson from 1866 to date (I know the rich one's :-) I also collect just about anything else on the name of Brinson as it's so rare here. Scandal, yes scandal I have some of that too & bancrupcies & illegitimacy :-0 .There is not much that escapes my attention ;-) I run PAF & Family Tree Maker all the latest version's. If you contact me can you please send a photo of yourself. A small one will do so I know what you all look like. I collect these to show any Brimson's/ Brinson's which is usefull I have found. If you can't not to worry. Well I will finish now. Any question's ??? Best wishes to all. David Brimson, Oxford (City of dreaming spires, Mathew Arnold), England. (I had 13 email's today, blimey it's a record :-0 how many tomorrow !!??
