    3. Lois, Thanks for the information. We have proof of Giles being a son of Zebulon. Giles states in his will that his father, Zebulon, is to be taken care of with proceeds from the farm on which they live. Zebulon was living with Giles in the 1860 Greene Co., IN census. David, Thanks for trying to send the IGI to me. I don't know why my server would not accept it. I will have to check on that. I'm sorry for your trouble. 3. Hi! I too would love to find something concrete on Zebulon Brinson of Pulaski Co., KY. He is listed on the 1830 Census with 3 boys and 1 girl and the 1840 census with 1 boy. He married 8 Jan 1818 Pulaski Co., Betsy Whiteaker. (Pulaski Co. Marriages, Book 1, pg. 16) Also in Marriages Book 1, pg. 16: 23 Sep 1839 Brinson, Giles W. Adkins, Nancy Rial Adkins con. This is the only proven child I have found. Believe Giles W. above is also son. Believe Zebulon is the son of John Brinson & Belinda Taylor. Married 12 Dec 1795. No Proof. Deed Book #14, pg. 341 dated Oct 1850 lists heirs of John Brinson, deceased: John H. Decker & Dicy James Hargis & Polly James Hargis, Jr. & Catherine Isiah Bray & Phebe Amos Chaney & Temperance Singleton Earp & Hannah Lorenzo D. Phelps & Sarah Taylor Brinson & Nelly Note Zebulon is not named. I have marriage records and some census records of those listed above. What is the connection of Jonathan Brinson b. ca 1820 Pulaski Co. d. 4 Jan 1898 PC m/1 Jane Phelps 15 Mar. 1841 m/2 Martha Jane Meece 24 Oct 1872? Some say he is Zebulon's son. Need Proof. I have Pulaski Co. Marriage Books 1-4, 1810-1880 Censuses,1799-1800 Taxpayers. I don't mind looking up small amounts of info. 1. Stout BRINSON of Warren Co., KY
    2. Karen Isaacson
    3. Stout BRINSON or BRUNSON was born in New Jersey in 1750 or so (I believe I have the date from his Revolutionary War material, but can't put my hands on it just now), and was the brother of Zebulon Brinson Sr. I checked the Kentucky tax records of Warren Co for him, and tracked him through 1815 when he vanished (this was the year Allen Co. was formed from Warren Co., so from his POV, he probably stayed put and Warren Co. vanished, but never mind...) The appearance of Jonathan BRINSON in 1809 suggests he was a son of Stout, probably born about 21 years earlier (I think it was when they reached 21 that they had to start paying taxes), or in about 1788. 1. John BRINSON (c1802-1840s), PulaskiCo,KY>DecaturCo,IN
    2. Karen Isaacson
    3. I owe Lois some info on the younger Zeb BRINSON of Pulaski Co, Kentucky. Of course, I can't find the info just now, but am finding other bits and pieces of BRINSON info I thought I'd pass along meanwhile, on the off chance it connected for anyone. This is all work I did five or more years ago, I've been frantically busy of late helping Brian build RootsWeb. I'd appreciate hearing about any errors, and am willing (but not at all speedy, ask Lois how slow I am!) to share the documentation behind this stuff, assuming I can find it. ;-) On 4 July 1992, I wrote the following to a descendant of John BRINSON of Decatur Co, Indiana: It seems like an age since I've written you, and now I can't remember how up-to-date I've kept you on my research into the two John BRINSONs of early Indiana -- yours up in Shelby and Decatur Counties, and mine down in Ripley. We knew from your research that the one in Ripley was the son of Zebulon Jr. and Katherine Keithley, and the grandson of Zebulon Sr. And I know I was hopeful that the one up in Decatur and Shelby Counties was the son of John Brinson and Belinda Taylor (who settled in Pulaski Co., Kentucky), and also a grandson of Zebulon Sr. That is, the two Indiana Johns were first cousins. To back up that theory, I've read through the taxlists of Pulaski Co., and discovered that the younger John there left Pulaski Co., KY at about the same time your John appeared up in Indiana. This John, as you may recall, had married Rachel Price on 9 May 1822. Well, my big bit of information this time is that the widow Rachel Brinson married again in 1850 -- up in Shelby Co., Indiana! This really solidifies the link back to Pulaski Co., Kentucky (which mainly consisted of handwaving on my part, I'll confess), plus explains why your John was so scarce in 1850 -- he had died. I found this out last week, when I had the chance to spend a few hours in the libraries in the Greensburg (Decatur Co.) and Shelbyville (Shelby Co.) (My husband also has ancestors from those parts, so I worked on BRINSONs while he worked on his lines.) And I found lots of bits and pieces of BRINSON info on your family that may or may not be new to you. Here's what I think I know about the family of John BRINSON and Rachel PRICE: John BRINSON, born about 1802 in Pulaski Co., KY, died between 1840 and 1850 in Shelby Co., IN. He was the son of John BRINSON and Belinda TAYLOR. Moved from Pulaski Co., KY to Decatur Co., IN just before 1830, and was counted in the 1830 census there. Counted in the 1840 census in Shelby Co., IN. Married in Pulaski Co., KY on 9 May 1822 to Rachel PRICE, permission to marry given by John BRINSON Sr. In May 1831, five lots of corn were sold at O. WELSH's by William CRAWFORD, the administrator of Lewis CRAIG, to himself, James ALEXANDER, John BRINSON and William LOCKRIDGE. Decatur Co.,IN court records. Also in 1831, John BRINSON of Clay Twp., Decatur Co., IN, registered the following stock mark: a crop and slit in the left ear, and the upper bit out of the right ear. 19 Dec 1839 - mentioned in the estray records for Sugar Creek Township, Shelby Co., IN. Rachel PRICE, after John died, was married 12 May 1850 in Shelby Co. to John DERICKSON. She died 19 Feb 1866, aged 64y, 10m, 10d, and is buried in Shelby Co., IN at the Little Blue River Baptist Cemetery. In the 1850 census, she and John DERRICKSON were counted in Union Twp., Shelby Co. He was aged 61, born in NJ, and she was aged 46, born in KY. They're also in the 1860 census, for Shelby Co. on page 81-536. The index gave her as 57, born KY, and John DERRICKSON as 71, born NJ. Children: James H. BRINSON Was he a teamster in the Mexican War, who applied for a pension in 1889 while living in IL? He married first Susan PIERSON, the daughter of Robert and Nancy PIERSON. She is buried in Van Pelt Cemetery, and her stone says she was born 1 Aug 1834, and died in 1854. She and James H. BRINSON were married in Shelby Co. on 15 Jan 1853. They had Telitha J. BRINSON. She married Jacob C. CRAWFORD in Shelby Co. on 28 June 1875. Telitha was born in about February of 1854, in Shelby Co., IN He married second Virginia ALEXANDER in Shelby Co. on 4 Oct 1857. Dec 1854 - James H. BRINSON, guardian of Telitha Jane, the minor heir of Susan BRINSON, sold real estate to Green B. McCARTY. Telitha's grandmother is Jane SHELBY, formerly Jane PEARSON, widow of Robert PEARSON. Sarah BRINSON, born about 1827 in KY, married Joseph PIERSON in Shelby Co. on 29 Dec 1843. He was born about 1823 in KY. They had children Mary E. (born about 1845, Shelby Co., IN) and James A. (born in about July 1849 in Shelby Co., IN). Sarah and Joseph PIERSON counted in the 1850 Shelby Co., IN census. Willis G. BRINSON, born about 1824 in KY, married Matilda. She was born about 1830 in IN. Willis G. is buried in the Brandywine Cemetery in Shelby Co., where his stone says he died 3 Apr 1852 at the age of 29 years. After Willis death, Matilda married John BRADY in Shelby Co. on 18 Apr 1854. The 1860 Shelby Co. census index states that Matilda and John BRADY were on page 213-708, that both were aged 30, and born in IN. They had 1. Lynn Boyd. He was born in about July 1849 in Shelby Co., IN. Buried in the City Cemetery, Shelbyville, his stone reads 1849-1908. His wife was Eliza H., who is buried in the same cemetery, as are two of their infants. Her stone reads 18 Feb 1852 - 3 Jan 1880 or 1888. He apparently had other wives, as Shelby Co. records show marriages on 20 Jun 1872 for Lynn B. BRINSON and and Lida H. MARTZ, and on 14 Aug 1881 for Lynn B. BRINSON and Fannie T. CRAWFORD. The Volunteer (a newspaper) of 8 Jan 1880 says that Lydia, the wife of L.B. BRINSON "of Sabetha, KS" died on Saturday, that she was the daughter of Joseph L. MARTZ, and that she was to be buried in Shelbyville, so presumably Eliza H. and Lydia are one and the same, and someone incorrectly transcribed the tombstone. 2. Ardenia Jane, born about 1851 in Shelby Co., IN. She is buried in the Brandywine Cemetery (as is her father). Her stone says she died 30 Mar 1862, aged 11 years. 8 Aug 1850 - Willis G. BRINSON bought real estate in Shelby Co. from Elias BASS, the guardian of David T. BOON. 11 May 1852 - Coleman STORMS appointed the administrator of the estate of Willis G. BRINSON. 4 Jan 1853 - James F. RULE appointed guardian of Lynn Boyd and Ardena Jane, heirs of Willis G. BRINSON. 16 June 1854 - Apollos KINSLEY appointed guardian of Lynn Boyd and Ardena Jane, heirs of Willis G. BRINSON. Sept 1854 - Matilda BRINSON, mother of Lynn B. (aged 5) and Ardena J. (aged 3) sold real estate formerly owned by Sebastion BARTH. 9 Sept 1854 - Apollos KINSLEY, as guardian, sold real estate to Matthew WILLIAMS. 4 Mar 1861 - Apollos KINSLEY resigned as guardian. 8 Mar 1861 - John A. WHITED appointed guardian. Frank M. BRINSON Co. H, Reg. 16, in 4-13-1861, out 5-23-1862, served from Shelby Co., IN. By the way, an interesting detail -- down in Pulaski Co., I learned that John BRINSON Sr. (the brother of Zebulon BRINSON Jr.) also hunted wolves. He received bounties in 1807 and 1808 for the scalps of three mature wolves. Some sort of family tradition, maybe? ==== BRINSON Mailing List ==== Have you considered joining the Rootsweb Genealogical Data Cooperative? http://www.rootsweb.com/ .

    1. Zebulon BRINSON, of Pittsylvania Co., VA
    2. Karen Isaacson
    3. This is the oldest Zebulon BRINSON (born approximately 1750 in New Jersey), the brother of Stout BRINSON, just to get you situated. ;-) He was in Pittsylvania Co, Virginia, for a few years around 1780, before heading on to Kentucky. Note the BRIMSON spelling in the deed below. Though the really intriguing thing to me in this mishmash is that Zebulon BRINSON, in 1782, was appointed the administrator of the estate of Richard ELDRIDGE. Who was Richard ELDRIDGE? Zeb's father-in-law? Brother-in-law? I did most of this research during a brief visit to the Virginia State Archives a few years ago, and wasn't able to follow up... --Karen Deed Book 4, page 181. 30 Mar 1776 from Thomas JUSTICE of Camden Parish in Pittsylvania, to John WATSON Jr. of same, for 10 pounds, all that tract of land in Camden Parish and Pittsylvania on both sides of harping Cr, containing about 100 acres conveyed to the said Thomas JUSTICE by Ezra JUSTICE by Pittsylvania deed date June 11, 1773, and bounded by patent lines, Simeon JUSTICE. Signed - Thos JUSTICE. Wit - Zebulon BRIMSON, William WATSON, Samuel (x) HUGHES, Thomas WATSON. Recorded Apr 25, 1776. 18 Mar 1782, Pittsylvania Co. courthouse, Zebulon BRINSON filed a claim for one sheep provided during the war, 10 shillings. Pittsylvania Co. Personal Property Tax Lists, 1782-1790, found Zebulon BRINSON only in 1783, listed as one male over 21, 3 horses, 5 cattle. (Only males over 21 were counted, so this doesn't mean he had no family.) Deed Book 6, Page 3. 16 May 1780. Zebulon BRINSON of Pittsylvania to John WILLIAMS of the same, for 244 pounds, the tract on both sides of a Bold Branch of Mill Creek consisting of 244 acres granted to Zebulon BRINSON by patent. Next to George GRAY. Witnesses - John BUCKLEY, John LUMPKIN, Jer. WHITE. 2. Hi to everyone on the news group, I sent out the first part of the IGI & boy it took ages at one point I got clicked off so had to start again about 13 asked for the IGI & one got sent back for the following reason: Your message was not delivered because the destination computer refused to accept it (the error message is reproduced below). This type of error is usually due to a mis-configured account or mail delivery system on the destination computer; however, it could be caused by your message since some mail systems refuse messages with invalid header information, or if the messages are too large. Your message was rejected by viaduct.custom.net for the following reason: Transaction failed. Please reply to Postmaster@mail1-gui.server.virgin.net if you feel this message to be in error. Betty Cox <Betty@viaduct.custom.net> So Betty what's up with your server's destination computer :-0 I have included more info for you to look at but not as attachment's as I have been told it muck's up the server. My server, Virgin (as in the airline co & formerly record co owner) is sending me (free) Netscape version 3 as at the moment I have 2.02. I have used 3 before but not for some time. They are also sending me some additional add on's :-) I have see in the past looking through the Passenger & Immigration list's which have been published, some Brinson's listed. One springs to mind as Daniel Brinson but I will have to check. Passenger & Immigration List vol. 1. PW Filby & Mark K Meyer. These are kept from 1866 to date in Somerset House in Aldwych, London. A will or administration is indexed by year then by name. Not everyone leaves a will however if the estate left by a person is over a certain amount then letters of administration are granted (I think for tax reason's) . The index's of some later up to date will's are very brief e.g. where a person lived when they died & roughly how much they left. The earlier books give more detail's, next of kin, occupation. The actual will can be seen for 25p (35 cent's) or a copy obtained for the same amount (I should say per sheet but most are less than 2 sheet's) & sent in the post. Here is some info I have on a Benjamin Brinson who died in 1880 as you can see. "WILL" The will of Benjamin Brinson late of Myrtle Cottage, Trinity Rd, in the town & county of Southampton, gentleman who died 12 September 1880. Was proved at the Principal Registry 18 December 1880 by John Palmer Dowdeswell, gentleman & Richard Swaitridge, corn factor. Both of Beaminster in the county of Dorset, the executors. Here a birth, death or marriage certificate is £5.50 ($8.50) hence I don't have too many certificate's. It has to be pretty important for me to get a certificate but I have been known to splash out sometimes on rare occasion's :- 0 All the best to everyone. 3. If we do not have the reader that David mentioned, I suppose there is no use to request that he send us the IGI North America files. Am I right? Would it be possible for the list memebers with the proper reader to receive his files, then decipher them for the rest of us?
